20 Tea Tree Oil Uses + a Giveaway of Pure Australian Tea Tree Oil

Reading Time: 3 minutes

I’ve been using tea tree oil for many years – mostly as a topical antiseptic and natural cleaning product. Tea tree oil, also known as Melaleuca alternifoliais, is an essential oil derived from a plant that is native to Australia. This week one reader will have the opportunity to win a bottle of Apothecary Extracts 100% Pure Australian Tea Tree Oil.

Tea tree oil is best known for its antiseptic, anti-fungal, anti-viral and anti-inflammatory benefits. It is believed that Australian Aborigines have been using the leaves of the Melaleuca tree in their medications for centuries. They inhaled the oils from the crushed leaves to treat coughs and colds, sprinkled them on wounds and made a tea from the leaves to treat sore throats or skin ailments.

Tea tree oil has also more recently been used to treat a variety of skin problems including acne, toenail fungus, cold sores, yeast infections, ringworm and psoriasis. It is primarily used topically after being diluted in a carrier oil.

However, tea tree oil has a wide variety of uses, and here are some of them:

20 Tea Tree Oil Uses

1. Can be used as an all-purpose cleaner.
2. Naturally soothes insect bites.
3. Acts as a flea repellant.
4. Toothbrush cleaner to ward off germs and bacteria between uses.
5. Effective treatment for warts.
6. Add to a humidifier to relieve sinusitis.
7. Helps freshen carpet.
8. Eliminates mold.
9. Add to laundry for a fresh, clean scent.
10. Antiseptic on small cuts or pimples.
11. Removes ticks.
12. Provides natural sunburn relief.
13. Add to a warm bath to relieve sore muscles.

Note: Tea tree oil is very strong and when topically applied is generally diluted considerably. People who suffer from eczema or other skin conditions may find that tea-tree oil will exacerbate their symptoms.

Tea tree oil is toxic if ingested and should only be used as a topical remedy.

tea-tree-oilThe producers of Apothecary Extracts 100% Pure Australian Tea Tree Oil say that they tested a lot of samples and found not all essential oils are equal. Some suppliers dilute their oils to save money, resulting in an inferior product and this can lead to unwanted side effects. They claim they are the only brand of Tea Tree Oil that openly shares its test results (chiral and GCMS)  – so you can be confident you are getting the best quality product available.

Their Australian tea tree plantation has also received awards for its conservation farming practices. They have the smallest carbon footprint of any Tea Tree Oil producer.

The people who produce this tea tree oil are generously offering to provide one lucky reader with a free bottle.  You can read more about the product on their Amazon page here:

This is one very important – but often overlooked – factor to address when you are attempting to cleanse your body with a raw food detox diet. What you breathe and anything that comes in contact with your skin enters your body. So it is essential to eliminate exposure to toxic chemicals from personal hygiene products as well as from cleaning agents in your home.
