Orange Spinach Green Smoothie (Raw Vegan Recipe)

Reading Time: 1 minute

This is a great smoothie to reduce the symptoms of PMS. Oranges are known to improve the health of the blood vessels of the uterus. Spinach is a great source of magnesium which helps to reduce muscle cramps. Cinnamon helps to keep the blood sugar levels stable to reduce cravings for carbohydrate foods.

If you choose to add the optional bee pollen this will give you an extra boost of B vitamins to help you cope with stress and alleviate depression.

Some people have difficulty with the combination of bananas and oranges as mixing sweet and acid fruits is not perfect food combining. If this is the case for you simply omit the bananas. It will still taste great. You may like to use less water and perhaps add a touch of honey, agave or stevia for extra sweetening.

Ingredients:
Serves Two

2 oranges
2 bananas
4 cups spinach
1 teaspoon cinnamon
½ teaspoon ginger
2 tablespoons bee pollen (optional)
2 cups water

Method:

Place all ingredients in blender and mix until smooth.

  1. My husband and I really liked this!! The cinnamon and ginger really gave it a zing.

I didn’t have bee pollen, so didn’t use it and then added 1 1/2 tsp of agave nectar and 3tbsp ground up hemp seed for protein.

(Because every shake/smoothie needs to be a protein shake for my muscle building runner husband and I knew he would be disappointed if I didn’t add an insane amount of protein)

  2. Good site. I continually work out hard at least three times a week and after a tough session your body wants the best quality protein to repair you for your next workout. I constantly go for lean protein as the most excellent muscle building food, essentially chicken, turkey as well as fish. I in addition have scrambled egg whites for breakfast.I usually combine these meals with a complex carb and vegetables as well. I keep away from protein shakes since I perceive them as a waste of money, the body is designed to digest foods and drinks lack the thermic affect of foods.

  3. Thank you, very useful. I wasnt really a big fan of Spinach for many years ( understatement, I hated the stuff), but after marrying a vegan I kind of had to put up with it, and have gradually come to totally love the stuff. Spinach curry is now my absolute favourite!

  4. this page was precisely what i’ve been looking for! I found this blog bookmarked from a friend of mine. i will also share it. many thanks again!

  5. ginger, cinnamon and spinach. hmmmm. sounds like a strange combination since i am not a vegetarian and certainly not a vegan but i like all 3 and i like the IDEA of eating healthier foods so i think i will try this. we are seniors and exercise 4 times a week, 2 hrs each time i think we will need more protein in our shakes.

  6. I am going to go ahead and save this post for my brother for a coming up research project for class. This is a sweet website by the way.
