Supergreen Smoothie Bowl

Reading Time: 3 minutes

If you are the kind of person who has tried eating your smoothies with a spoon then you are going to love the Supergreen Smoothie Bowl.

A smoothie bowl is basically a very thick smoothie – often with more nutritionally-dense ingredients like avocado and nut milk – and embellished with a variety of toppings. It can range from a pure and simple fruit blend to a rich, creamy combination, reminiscent of ice cream.

There’s something about eating a smoothie with a spoon that makes it that much more satisfying. The possibility to add different toppings also adds interesting textures that can turn your nutrient-rich beverage into more of a real meal. The contrast of the creamy, thick smoothie with the chewy and crunchy embellishments makes the eating experience much more fun!

If you are looking for a nutritious breakfast you can’t do much better. This combination of raw fruits, greens, superfoods, and healthy fats will keep up your energy for hours.

How To Make A Smoothie Bowl

Smoothie bowls are also really fast to make. With a blender and just five or ten minutes, you can quickly put together a nutrient-dense meal for any time of the day. They are a great way to get started with increasing the fresh fruits and superfoods in your diet so you can begin to experience the benefits of eating more raw food.

Here is a basic green smoothie bowl recipe featuring Sunwarrior Ormus Greens, which I’ve written about in a previous post.

One of the best things about the smoothie bowl is that it is really easy to customize depending on your personal preferences and what you have available. Frozen fruits – especially bananas – serve as the foundation and thicken the smoothie while also adding sweetness. The recipe below includes mango in addition to the banana but you could experiment with other fruits like pear, peaches, cherries, or blueberries.

Nut milk and avocado add a decadent creaminess. If you are on a detox program you can certainly leave out the additional fat and create a fruit-only smoothie bowl. In this case, aloe vera gel makes a good substitute and provides a silky texture.

The smoothie bowl also gives you ample opportunity to experiment with different superfoods. I’ve included the Sunwarrior Ormus Greens in this recipe but you could also try adding lucuma, maca, acai berry, pomegranate, or chia seeds.

Where you can really get creative is with the toppings for your smoothie bowl. This one includes chopped fresh fruit and shredded coconut. Other possibilities include fresh berries, goji berries, bee pollen, hemp seeds, raw granola, dried mulberries, cacao nibs, and anything else you fancy!
