Prava bar is one of the few places in the Maenam area in Koh Samui where you can find good vegetarian food and probably the only one offering green juice. They promote themselves as a Tiki/Tapas bar so it is surprising that the menu is almost completely vegetarian, with a decent selection of vegan offerings.
We love greens and enjoyed the Clean Green juice but there are also fruit shakes and smoothies to choose from.
The idea of tapas is that they are small dishes designed to be shared on the table. At Prava there is an international menu featuring Mexican, Mediterranean, Indian and Thai dishes.
It was a delight to find a kale salad in Thailand and this was quite tasty. Personally, it was a little rich for me and I could live without the croutons but the creamy garlicky sesame dressing was quite delicious.
The Thai Pumpkin Coconut soup is creamy and soothing with just the right amount of seasoning from ginger, lemongrass, chili, and cilantro.
This is a Mediterranean plate including hummus, olive tapenade, aubergine caponata, roasted tomato, and served with crisp cucumbers and pita bread.
The Aloo Chana Masala is an Indian style curry of chickpeas and potatoes and is a meal in itself. It is also served with flatbread but if you want to keep it gluten-free they are happy to substitute this with rice.
These are twice-baked potatoes with kale and artichoke. They normally come with cheese but it’s no problem to leave it off and keep it vegan.
Prava bar also has a Thai menu with many of the usual favorites like curry, noodles, and stir-fry along with options for your non-vegetarian friends. Since we visited the menu has been updated to include an even greater selection of fresh juices, smoothies, and more vegan dishes.
