After your first week, there is additional flexibility regarding the details of your meal plan. You can also add wellness shots to your order for an extra $5 each or $20 for five bottles.
How Splendid Spoon Works
Once you sign up for a plan, you have the option to decide from a selection of 50 different dishes each week. You can also choose specific ingredients or meals that you would like to avoid in your upcoming orders. It’s straightforward to customize the plan to work with your preferences.
You can choose between Wednesday or Friday delivery days, and shipping is always free. The meals ship frozen, packed with dry ice, and will stay fresh in your fridge for at least a week. If you won’t be consuming them within that time, it’s best to put them in your freezer right away. Then you can take them out a couple of days before you plan to eat them.
The smoothies and wellness shots have an “Enjoy By” date printed on the bottles, and you can safely store them in the fridge until that time.

Smoothies come in appealing combinations like Chocolate Cherry, Mint Chip, and Blueberry Coconut. These blends contain 95% organic ingredients and a balance of plant-based protein, fiber, and carbs to boost energy levels and keep your blood sugar stable. They also feature superfoods like spirulina, matcha, acai, maqui berries, baobab, and chia.

Soup & Grain Bowls
Soups and grain bowls are assigned as lunch options, but you could easily have these for dinner if you prefer. There’s a wide range of international flavors with everything from Vegetable Bolognese to Cuban Black Bean and Aloo Gobi Quinoa.
Some of our favorites from the meals we tried are the Green Split Pea Soup with Tarragon & Basil, the Coconut Curry Rice Bowl with Kale & Cashews, and the Kabocha Congee with Coconut Milk & Pumpkin Seeds.
I wasn’t sure how a noodle bowl would turn out after being frozen, but I was pleasantly surprised by how good they were. The noodles stayed firm, yet tender (not mushy), and the sauces added a lot of flavor. I could see these being a healthy alternative to takeout on busy nights or lazy weekends.
My husband enjoyed the Kale Pesto Noodles as well as the Sesame Noodles with Shiitake Mushrooms and Collard Greens. I added extra mushrooms and baby bok choy to make it more of a meal for him. Next time, we are looking forward to trying the Green & Red Curry Noodles and the Creamy Butternut Squash.
I think, in general, the portions of the Splendid Spoon bowls would be satisfying for most women. If you have a big appetite or are very physically active, then you may prefer to serve them with a side of rice, quinoa, or pasta. There’s always the option to add extra toppings like avocado, pumpkin seeds, cashew cheese, or coconut yogurt.
I feel my best when I maintain a high intake of raw and freshly prepared foods and prefer not to eat frozen meals every day. So if you’re like me, you may not follow their plan as outlined.
However, it can be convenient to keep a couple of the meals on-hand in the fridge for those moments when you don’t have the time or energy to prepare a meal from scratch. I like to think of their bowls as the base and then add extra sauteed veggies and a big green salad to make it feel complete.
Ultimately, I would recommend Splendid Spoon if you are new to plant-based eating or have a busy lifestyle that makes it challenging to find the time to prepare healthy food.
